Learn By Doing
We are committed to the success of our students. Hands on learning is an integral part of our curriculum inside and outside of classrooms.
Beyond the Books
Farsi School offers enrichment classes to all students. Classes are offered for children and adults from Pre-K and above vary by grades. The current electives include music, dance, art, drama and sports.
Extra Curricular Programs
Young Musicians
The rich history of Persian music and musical instruments will be showcased by an array of talented volunteers who have agreed to bring in their traditional Persian instruments for the students. During the music elective students will have the opportunity to learn about, listen to, and even play traditional Persian instruments such as the setar, dombak, santur and daf!
Dance
Throughout the years ICSNC has been very active in teaching dance to children and adults. Persian school will extend that tradition with dedicated volunteers that are ready to take on this task. Dancers from the NCSU Iranian Student Association will volunteer their time for the Dance elective to introduce students to the beauty of Persian music and Persian dance. Students will even learn some choreography!
Afterschool Sports
The students will learn that Iranian’s can do anything! As such, one elective we will offer will include different athletic demonstrations from volunteers in our community. For example, we are very excited to have the Iranian owners of Elite Fire Taekwando come to Persian School and get the children active!
Drama
All children will participate in the ICSNC Persian School Nowruz and Yalda festivals that will be held at the Aria Cultural Center ballroom. Preparation and rehearsal for these events will take place during elective time slots leading up to the event. The children will learn and memorize traditional Persian poems, songs, and have the opportunity to participate in a play!
Art & Design
Dedicated volunteers that excel in the arts will provide lessons during the Art elective that not only relate back to what they are learning in their farsi language class, but also be tied into upcoming Iranian cultural events such as Nowruz, Yalda, etc. All art supplies will be included in the registration free. We also plan on having additional art classes during the week for children and adults for a small fee.
